Meet Coach Chris Mata

  • 1998 – Graduated from Waco High School, while playing all 4 years on the Varsity basketball team
  • Named McDonald’s All American in HS
  • Only person in school history to average a triple double in HS
  • Averaged 4 steals and 3 blocks a game in HS as the shortest player on the team and the point guard
  • 1998-1999 – Accepted a scholarship to play at Penn State
  • Earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman team
  • 2000-2001 – Played professional basketball in the Euro-league in Barcelona
  • 2001-2002 – Played semi-pro basketball for the Huntsville Flight in the NBA development league
  • 2002-2003 – Regular player on the Dallas Mavericks practice squad
  • 2010-2015 – Personal basketball trainer for youth and adults at the MAC in Lewisville, TX
